Barcaccia Fountain
This is a Baroque-style fountain situated at the foot of theSpanish StepsinRome'sPiazza di Spagna(Spanish Square).It was made by Pietro Bernini between 1627 and 1629 with the help of his son Gian Lorenzo.The sculptor, to carve the central basin in the shape of a sinking boat, took inspiration from a barge washed up in the square after a Tiber flood.It was built below the ground level to compensate for meager water pressure.Francesco e Mattia
