10. “The Holy Week: crucifixion and lamentation” House Museum
The house museum called "La settimana santa: crocefissione e lamentazioni" (The holy week: crucifixion and lamentation) on via Montanaro contains a two-room exhibition of photos and captions from the book “Vicende e costumi siciliani” by Luise Hamilton Caico.The exhibition displays a model by artist Roberto Vanadia, portraying Christ’s crucifixion, which is considered one of the most moving moments of the holy week. The model is a reproduction of a monument situated on a hilltop shrine just outside the town.The exhibition also features many period photos and recordings of Good Friday lamentations, considered very moving and precious expressions of the ephemeral local heritage, a very authentic form of folk art.
